Rice is a grain like wheat and corn. Asia depends on the rice as a staple in meals throughout the continent. Rice takes 120 to 180 days to ripen and be harvested up to 3 times a year. In many cases rice is grown in rice paddies, muddy soil that is walled in by dirt and filled with water.
When harvested the rice is split from the plant and layed out to dry, then sent to the mill to be processed. China produces 184 million tons of rice per year with India flowing at 137 million tons. The United States only produces 9 million tons. Asia produces rice for their own consumption and even then there is a shortage. The United States produces rice mainly for export.
Secret: Rice is the main food for over half the world’s population. Not HLS. It is limited starch.
