Fact: Food Allergies have become more and more common over the last 30 years. While seen most often in children, we are finding that some food allergies can be outgrown over time.
Here are a few most common food allergies. Before we breech this topic however, if you’re concerned about food allergies, you should consult your doctor about food testing. Food allergies are not something to play with and can be extremely dangerous to a number of people with extreme sensitivity.
Shellfish: One of the top 10 most common food allergies. Unfortunately the medical community has not seen a high percentage of people outgrow this particular allergy. In other words, if shellfish gives you trouble, it’s probably safe to say it will remain that way.
Eggs: For some adults that suffered from an egg allergy as a child, it looks like more and more adults are able to handle them over time. A good rule of thumb is that if eggs are tolerated in baked goods, there is a higher chance eggs can be tolerated on their own.
Wheat: Out of all of these most common food allergies, wheat seems to be the one most people outgrow. While gluten tends to be the primary irritant for most, it seems that as time goes on more and more people can tolerate wheat as adults.
Dairy: One, if not the most common, food allergies. Dairy allergies, like egg allergies, if tolerated in baked goods, can be a good sign that dairy may be able to be reintroduced.
