Alpha-Lipoic-AcidAlpha-Lipoic Acid is an organic compound found in all human cells, and has antioxidant properties. It’s produced in small amounts by your body, but is also found in foods and supplements.

1. Weight Loss Benefits
In human studies conducted over 14 weeks, individuals who took an alpha-lipoic acid supplement, lost an average of 1.52 pounds more than individuals who took a placebo.

2. Diabetes Benefits
Alpha-Lipoic acid has been shown to reduce insulin resistance, improve blood sugar control, ease symptoms of nerve damage and lower the risk of diabetic retinopathy.

3. Other Benefits
Reducing skin aging, Slowing memory loss, promoting healthy nerve function, reducing inflammation, and lowering heart disease risk factors have all been linked to alpha-lipoic acid.

4. Side Effects
Alpha-lipoic acid is generally safe with little to no side effects. In some instances, people may experience mild symptoms, such as nausea, rashes or itching.
